MICKEY WHERRY SCHOLARSHIP
Mickey Wherry was a dedicated individual that stepped up and volunteered to organize the Interclub Soccer League for DYSA. As an avid soccer fan, Mickey enjoyed watching, coaching, refereeing and being a part of an organization that would impact so many players today. Mr. Wherry also served as the Recreational Director for Kirkwood Soccer Club and was a committee member for the East Region President's Cup.
Mickey lost his battle with amyloidosis in October, 2016. To keep Mr. Wherry's legacy live on, Delaware Youth Soccer Association hosts a 3 v 3 tournament annually. Proceeds from this tournament are funneled into a scholarship in Mickey's memory. This scholarship is awarded to an individual that exemplifies the qualities that Mr. Wherry stood for "Fair Play.
