Scouting Process

ODP Scouting  Procedure

PLAYERS MUST BE REGISTERED IN ORDER TO BE SCOUTED

We are excited to kick off the 2023-2024 Olympic Development Program (ODP) cycle

The US Youth Soccer ODP Philosophy

To identify players of the highest caliber on a continuing and consistent basis, which will lead to increased success for the U.S. National Teams in the international arena.

DE ODP players are selected to represent the state from scouting opportunities, training sessions or games. The State Association trainers and scouts are recognized for their ability to identify and develop players with superior skills.

Players may also be identified during club, high school, or league play by State, Regional, or National coaches. There are several ways that players can stand out. We want to help you develop your skills and abilities and learn to put yourself at the service of the team to help the team win games. How do you win soccer games?

Score Goals – Create Goals – Prevent Goals

Focusing on what matters most will help simplify decisions and increase your influence on the game.

Criteria for selection to DE ODP: (Not in order of importance. That can vary with the individual)

1. Soccer Skill/ Technique (Ball Control)
2. Soccer Intelligence (Game Control)
3. Fitness and Athletic Ability (Body Control)
4. Desire and Attitude (Self Control)

DE ODP will host mini camps prior to each event. Players will be invited to attend the mini camps and teams will be selected from the pool of players attending mini camp. DE ODP uses the calendar year for team formation. Players will train in their birth year group.
