DE ODP
The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching. USYS' focus is to identify players of the highest caliber on a continuing and consistent basis, which will lead to increase success for the US National Teams in the international arena.
Today, Delaware Youth Soccer Association will be taking a new and positive direction with the ODP Program, which is consistent to the USYS program. In the past, the program was a development driven program. NOW this program is being re-vamped to become an OPPORTUNITY DRIVEN PROGRAM, set to provide playing opportunities to skilled Delaware Players. We all are aware that the clubs are doing a great job developing our players, DE ODP will be looking to provide and enhance playing opportunities to these players.
COSTS:
DYSA recognizes that the exurbanite cost of the program has driven many players away. DYSA is lowering the cost to participate to $400 depending on your selection.
DYSA recognizes the rigorous schedule that all clubs have put together for their various programs and teams. With this, DYSA has reduced the number of training sessions and has set out to run this program like the US SOCCER runs its Youth National Teams. We are establishing a scouting network and mini camps which will provide the necessary avenues for player selection for the "enhanced playing OPPORTUNITIES".
SCOUTING:
Players are scouted throw their training sessions with their club teams, at games, tournaments and their by their club coaches and Technical Directors.
TOURNAMENTS:
Players that are selected will participate in the various local tournamentsand the East Region Tournament
UNIFORMS:
Players will be required to purchase a training jersey. DYSA will supply each player that is selected for an event a uniform. Players are responsible for returning the uniform after each event. DYSA will maintain the structure of the program and keep the cost to a minimum.
