ODPRegister

PLAYERS MUST BE REGISTERED PRIOR TO ATTENDING TRYOUTS

We are excited to kick off the 2018-2019 Olympic Development Program (ODP) cycle.

Tryouts/ Fall Training begins Sunday, September 16th.

To provide access to ODP to more players, we are now offering sessions in 2 locations, one on Sunday evenings and one on Monday evenings.  While you may attend both, it is not expected.  ODP should be part of a soccer players youth development, in combination with club and school soccer.  We understand that schedule conflicts are a real possibility.  If you are interested in ODP, but are considering not playing because of schedule conflicts, please contact DYSA Technical Director, Mike Kleinert: Coaching@DYSA.org

2018 Delaware ODP players who reside outside of Delaware should try out in their home state.
If it works out that we are able to have you back in Delaware ODP in 2018 we will be very happy to have you.

The US Youth Soccer ODP Philosophy
To identify players of the highest caliber on a continuing and consistent basis, which will lead to increased success for the U.S. National Teams in the international arena.

Delaware ODP Players are selected to represent the state from training sessions, conducted by state coaches. The State Association coaches are recognized for their ability to identify and develop players with superior skills.

Players may also be identified during club, high school, or league play by State, Regional, or National coaches.  There are several ways that players can stand out.  We want to help you develop your skills and abilities and learn to put yourself at the service of the team to help the team win games.  How do you win soccer games?

Score Goals - Create Goals - Prevent Goals

Focusing on what matters most will help simplify decisions and increase your influence on the game.

Criteria for selection to Delaware ODP:  (Not in order of importance.  That can vary with the individual)

1. Soccer Skill/ Technique (Ball Control)
2. Soccer Intelligence (Game Control)
3. Fitness and Athletic Ability (Body Control)
4. Desire and Attitude (Self Control)

It benefits the player to participate and be evaluated as often as possible.  Therefore, attendance at all sessions is recommended, but not mandatory.  There will certainly be conflicts and players will not be penalized for missing training sessions beyond the lost opportunity that comes with missing training.  It becomes a problem if you miss so many that the coaching staff has only limited information about you as a player.  Please stay in communication with your coaching staff.
